On Sunday, November 28, 2025, the DECOC (DR Congo Elite Community in South Korea) proudly represented the vibrant culture of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the annual Daejeon International Festival. Led by its esteemed President, Dr. Reagan Ingoma, and supported by dedicated members, DECOC joined participants from around the globe in a spectacular display of international camaraderie and cultural exchange.
🎶 Showcasing Congolese Talent and Heritage 💃
DECOC captivated the festival attendees with a dynamic program that highlighted both contemporary and traditional Congolese arts.
🎤 The Melodies of Congo: Karaoke Performance
The first event featured an engaging Karaoke performance, where the DECOC President shared the powerful and rhythmic sounds of the DR Congo. This segment offered the audience a chance to connect with the emotional depth and diverse musical landscape of the country.
✨ A Walk through Culture: Fashion Show
The second, and perhaps most visually stunning, event was the Fashion Show. This was not just a runway show, but a vibrant cultural presentation. DECOC members elegantly showcased the rich artistic heritage of the Congo through:
- Congolese Cultural Fabrics: The fashion show featured stunning attire made from iconic textiles, such as Kitenge and Wax prints, known for their bold colors, intricate patterns, and storytelling significance.
- Cultural Symbols: Models incorporated traditional accessories, jewelry, and symbolic garments, each piece representing the diverse provinces, ethnic groups, and historical narratives of the DR Congo.
