Congolese scholar & DECOC Vice President Sllife Nyazabe recognized for outstanding performance and contribution.

Sllife Nyazabe, a scholar from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, active member of the Congolese Elite Communauty in South Korea (DECOC), graduated from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) on August 14, 2026, after completing his doctoral studies in Management Information Systems at the Graduate School of Global Digital Innovation.

At the graduation, Nyazabe received an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding performance and contribution to the Graduate School of Global Digital Innovation. The distinction marked a significant conclusion to his doctoral journey in Korea.

His research focuses on Management Information Systems, digital innovation, digital financial services, and responsible artificial intelligence. A central part of his doctoral work examines how people in Sub-Saharan Africa move beyond the initial adoption of digital financial technologies toward sustained and confident use, particularly for consequential transactions.

His emerging research also investigates how human-centered AI can support complex digital decision-making by reducing cognitive burden, improving procedural clarity, and helping users calibrate trust while retaining meaningful human control.

Beyond research, this DECOC member contributed to KAIST’s international academic community through teaching support, student leadership, and collaborative activities. His academic trajectory reflects a broader commitment to connecting technological innovation with practical development challenges in Africa and other emerging economies.

Following graduation, he plans to continue research and teaching in digital transformation, responsible AI, and information systems, while strengthening academic and innovation links between Korea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the wider African continent.
