- Introduction
The 2025 General Assembly of DECOC (Dynamic of Congolese Elite Community in South Korea) marked a major milestone in the life of the organization. Held in Seoul, this important gathering was dedicated to reflecting on the future of DECOC, renewing its leadership, recognizing excellence, and strengthening member engagement.
The event brought together Congolese elites from across South Korea, united by a shared vision of community advancement, collaboration, and contribution to the development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
DECOC was also honored by the presence of Mr. Jessy Kabemba, the second chancellor representing His Excellency Ambassador Christian Ileka, who delivered an inspiring speech on behalf of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Korea.
- Candidacies and Vision Presentations
The session opened with the presentation of candidates and their respective visions for the future of DECOC.
- Mrs. Francette Ilunga, candidate for President of the General Assembly, outlined her commitment to fostering inclusivity, unity, and transparency within DECOC.
- She was followed by Dr. Eloi Fataki and Mr. Gaston Munzoba, both candidates for Vice-Presidency of the General Assembly, who shared their strategic orientations for reinforcing cohesion and operational efficiency within the organization.
- No candidacy was submitted for the position of Secretary of the General Assembly.
At the Executive Committee level:
- Mr. Reagan Ingoma ran for re-election as President for a third consecutive term – a record that testifies to his unwavering commitment and passion for serving the community.
- Mr. Sllife Nyazabe and Mr. Prince Muhambirwa were candidates for Vice-Presidency, presenting thoughtful perspectives on improving DECOC’s visibility, partnerships, and member engagement.
- Mr. Grace Songanzila was a candidate for Secretary General, emphasizing efficiency and modernized communication within the executive structure.

After the presentation of visions, members proceeded to the voting session. The results were as follows:

- Welcoming of New Members
The Assembly also had the pleasure of welcoming eight new members to the DECOC family. Each newcomer received a symbolic gift – a DECOC jacket – as a token of belonging and remembrance of this special day.
- DECOC Awards Ceremony
A highlight of the event was the DECOC Awards Ceremony, celebrating outstanding achievements and commitment.
- Mr. Igugu Étienne Tshisekedi received the Academic Merit Award for his publication in SpringerNature (Impact Factor 8.4).
- Mr. Sllife Nyazabe was also honored with an Academic Merit Award for his publications in Elsevier and SpringerNature.
In addition, a Special Recognition Ceremony was held for members who demonstrated exceptional dedication and active participation throughout the year. Among those recognized were Mr. Junior Bititi, Mr. Chico Mapong, Mr. Grace Songanzila, Mr. Sllife Nyazabe, Mr. Louisha Mbuinga, Mr. Gaston Munzoba, Mrs. Francette, Mrs. Gentille Bilonda and Mr. Jean Boleme (the best contributor), among others.
- Closing and Fellowship
The official session began at 2:00 p.m. and concluded at 5:30 p.m., after which members gathered for the traditional “third half-time” at Itaewon from 6:59 p.m. till late in the night. This convivial moment provided an opportunity for members to share food, laughter, and fellowship – a true celebration of unity within DECOC.
- Call for Member Engagement
Throughout the Assembly, a key message resonated strongly: DECOC lives through the active participation of its members.
As a voluntary and community-driven organization, DECOC depends on its members’ contributions, involvement, and solidarity. Members are thus encouraged to participate more regularly in activities and initiatives to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the association.
